The Rise of Necrosaro

Chapter 1

He knew he was dreaming.  He was in a dark tunnel, which was littered with the bodies of dead miners.  He saw the creature that he had seen so many times before.  It was a giant, gray monster that held a sword in each hand.  It had two horns atop its head and had all the characteristics of pure evil.  It was near the peak of its evolution.  And like all the other times, it spoke:   “I am Esturk the Great.  Your destiny lies with me Saro.  You will resurrect me.  It is unavoidable…”

Saro leapt out of bed, and a feeling of relief rushed over him when he realized that he was home.  He looked in the mirror.  Unlike most demons, he could resemble a human, if he pleased.  His reddish hair complimented his sky- blue eyes, which gave him a wily appearance.  He had a square chin and high cheekbones, and would be considered handsome, if judged by a human.

The vision of Esturk is a reoccurring dream that has plagued Saro for as long as he can remember.  Each time he had it, Esturk said more and more.  According to legend, Esturk was an extremely powerful demon who was dispatched by the Zenithians and their leader, Master Dragon.  Esturk obtained such power by his discovery of the secret of evolution.  Apparently, the process increased the evolution process, producing supernatural mutations.  However, the process wasn’t perfected, due to a missing amplifier, and Esturk was able to be defeated.  He was buried, along with his discovery.

Saro resided in Dire Palace, home of the most powerful demons in the world.  Very few know of its existence and any travelers that run upon it, never live to tell of it.

Gorgon, the current king of monsters, had recently promoted Saro to Lieutenant for his participation in the massacre at Riverton.  He was given the honor of living in Dire after that promotion.  Saro also came under the tutelage of Scorpio, a great warrior and wizard, who was to train Saro and prepare him for his new responsibilities as an officer.

But he was tired of taking orders from a king and of being some fool’s apprentice.  Perhaps Esturk and his secrets could help Saro.  Perhaps he could be the king.  In order to find out, Saro planned to pay the Prophet of Manbaraba a visit…
