| Midenhall Castle (Level 1) | |||||
| As the game begins, a lone soldier escapes the destruction of Moonbroke Castle by Hargon’s evil minions and brings the grim tidings to your father the King of Midenhall. You must accept the challenge to go forth and destroy this evil. The King will give you a treasure chest with a Copper Sword and 50 Gold to start your journey. Be sure to speak with everyone in the Castle as well as everyone else you meet along the way. You will be able to find out valuable information by talking to the people of the land. Now, it’s time to venture forth into the world. | |||||
| Leftwyne (Level 3) | |||||
| West along the coast from Midenhall, is the town of Leftwyne. This is the first place (and only place, for a while) to upgrade your weapon and armor. | |||||
| Cannock Castle (Level 5) | |||||
| Directly north of Leftwyne, you will find Cannock Castle. Speak to the King and others here to find out where the Prince has gone. | |||||
| Spring of Bravery (Level 6) | |||||
| Head east of Cannock to reach the Spring of Bravery. The cave here is not very big, but there are dangerous monsters. The man near the end by the spring will tell you about the Prince if you answer yes, and will restore your HP if you answer no. Since the Prince is no longer here head back to Midenhall and talk to the King and then return to Leftwyne and find the Prince of Cannock at the inn. He will join your party. | |||||

Finally you can upgrade your party’s weapons and armor again. The Water Crest is in the underground jail, but you’ll need to get the Jailor’s Key first. | |||||
| Moonbroke Castle (Level 12) | |||||
| Southwest of Hamlin is the destroyed Castle of Moonbroke. Maybe you can find out what happened to the Princess here. Could the spirits of those who were killed still be haunting this place? Search everywhere and try talking to the fires, which are moving around. You should be able to find out what happened to the Princess and how to help her. Leave Moonbroke, head east to find where the Mirror of Ra is hidden, and then go back to Hamlin, go up to the friendly dog and use the mirror to break the spell on the Princess. Then she will join your party. | |||||

| This tower is a little tricky to find, but head out to the northeast of Hamlin and circle around along the beach heading south, and you’ll get there eventually. The Cloak of Wind is hidden in this tower somewhere. Once you find it, you must Use it on one of your party members for it to work. | |||||

| Head west from Moonbroke and you’ll come to a Shrine by the river. Enter the Shrine and come out on the other side. Then head northwest to reach the Dragon’s Horn. This tower is very straight forward. Just make your way to the top floor and jump off the north side. The Cloak of wind will carry you across the river blocking your way and land you safely on the other side. | |||||
| Monsters: | |||||
| Baboon | |||||
| Carnivog | |||||
| Demighoul | |||||
| Healer | |||||
| Medusa Ball | |||||
| Zombie | |||||
| Lianport (Level 15) | |||||
| Lianport is northeast of the Dragon’s Horn. You can upgrade your weapons and armor here. Wandering around in the town, you will notice a young girl being harassed by a couple of Gremlins. Defeat these monsters and the girl’s grandfather will give you a ship. Once you have the ship, enter through the door you see, and talk to the man there. He has a special request, and if you fulfill his request, he will reward you with the Echoing Flute. This is a very important item in the game. It will help you find the five crests hidden around the world. If you play the flute and it echoes back, you know there is a crest nearby. | |||||
| Note: Now that you have the ship you can sail all over the world. There are several shrines scattered all over. Search these out and uncover their secrets. You will discover wise men and travel doors, among other things. Most will not be mentioned in this walkthrough. | |||||
| Tantegel Castle (Level 16) | |||||
| Head east from Lianport, and you’ll run into the land of Alefgard! Explore the land of Alefgard because it has changed a bit in the last 100 years. Enter Tantegel Castle and reminisce about the past and your ancestor who defeated the Dragonlord so long ago. Upgrade weapons and armor here, too. | |||||
| Charlock Castle (Level 17) | |||||
| Across the channel from Tantegel, Charlock Castle sure looks mysterious. Sail across there and see what secrets it holds. You may find help from an unlikely source. | |||||

| Basilisk | Lottery Ticket | ||||
| Dragon Fly | Medical Herb | ||||
| Gorgon | Sword of Erdrick | ||||
| Gremlin | Wing of Wyvern | ||||
| Mummy Man | 150-160 Gold | ||||
| Saber Tiger | |||||
| Osterfair (Level 18) | |||||
| Osterfair is on a large island south of Midenhall. Talk to the King and accept his challenge. Defeat the Saber Tiger and get your reward, the Moon Crest. You can also upgrade your party’s weapons and armor. | |||||
| Zahan (Level 19) | |||||
| Sail southeast of Ostefair and you will come to the tiny island of Zahan. An interesting fishing town. The Golden Key is here, but you may need help finding it. There are also a couple of buildings on the north side of town locked up by jail doors and surrounded by barriers. Come back here when you have the Jailor’s Key and the Prince of Cannock has learned the Stepguard spell. | |||||
| Welgarth (Level 20) | |||||
| Sail west of Zahan and a little north, passing the Fire Shrine (where the Sun Crest is located) and the island of the World Tree. (Pick a leaf at this tree and use it to revive dead party members.) Keep sailing west until you see Welgarth. The Jailor’s Key is for sale here at one of the item shops. Can you figure out which one? Roge Fastfinger was supposed to be here and he had the Watergate Key. Did he really escape or is he still hiding here somewhere? Search his cell and you might find something. | |||||
| Note: Now that you have all of the keys, go back to all of the castles and towns that you have previously visited in the game. You may find some interesting items behind locked doors. | |||||
| Tuhn (Level 21) | |||||
| To reach Tuhn, sail west along the coast from Welgarth until you come to two rivers. Sail up the west river to the end. Exit the ship and walk north and east around the mountains until you come to the town. Speak to Don Mahone and he will send you on a quest to help him make the Water Flying Cloth. This is the best armor for the Princess, so you should help him out. You should also go to the northeast corner of town and walk north past the buildings until you come to the Watergate. Enter the small building and use the Watergate Key to let the water flow through. This will allow you to sail up the east river to Tuhn and give you access to the Tower of the Moon, just south of Tuhn. You may also upgrade weapons and armor here. | |||||
| Tower South of Alefgard (Level 22) | |||||
| You will find this tower if you sail south from the southeast corner of Alefgard. This tower is large and confusing, but if you find the old man in here, he will lead you to the treasure you seek. But be careful, not everything is as it seems. | |||||

| Beran (Level 25) | |||||
| Beran is on a large island southwest from the two rivers that lead to Tuhn. Beran is the gateway to Rhone and Hargon’s Castle. This is the time to upgrade your weapons and armor to the best you can, because you’re about to start your assault on Hargon’s lair. Use the travel door on the north side of town which will transport you to the Shrine east of the Cave to Rhone. | |||||
| Cave to Rhone (Level 26) | |||||
| Exit the shrine and head west. Use the Eye of Malroth in the swamp to reveal the secret entrance to the Cave to Rhone. Throughout this cave there are traps in the floor which will drop you down to the level below. You’ll have to memorize where they are in order to avoid them. It is also very easy to get lost in here, especially on the top floor. There are some great treasures in here, too. The Life crest is in the basement of this cave. Once you get it exit and return to Beran. | |||||

| Shrine of Rubiss (Level 27) | |||||
| Bring all five crests to this Shrine, which is south by ship from Midenhall. It is a very tiny island in the middle of the sea. Go to the bottom floor with all of the crests and you will receive Rubiss’ Charm. Now head back to the Cave to Rhone by way of Beran and complete your trek through. | |||||
| Shrine of Rhone (Level 28) | |||||
| Once you make it through the Cave to Rhone, head northeast to the Shrine. The man here will revive any dead party members and restore everyone to full HP and MP. He can also save your game. There is a travel door here which will take you outside of Rhone in case you need to return outside for any reason. | |||||
| Hargon’s Castle (Level 29) | |||||
| Hargon’s Castle is west and south of the Shrine of Rhone. When you enter Hargon’s Castle it looks like Midenhall. To break the spell, use Rubiss’ Charm. Find your way into the north-central part of the castle and stand on the square in the middle of the barriers. Use the Eye of Malroth here to get to the next level in the castle. The rest of the castle is easy to navigate (except for all of the monsters, of course). | |||||
